While it’s no secret that I’ve got no love for the right-wing stretch of today’s GOP, I’m flat-out disgusted with the rampant lies and distortion that is quickly becoming the norm. Since it’s the Christmas season, it’s easy to spot the political grinches who will not only distort facts, but use the holiday season for political posturing. Today’s Grinch: Our own U.S. Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn.

In a Facebook status update, Blackburn said this: Since I can’t wish you a Merry Christmas, I’ll wish you a Happy Birthday Jesus!

First of all, Congresswoman, you can wish people a Merry Christmas. There’s not a single federal law that bars the practice, least of all by our elected officials. Since the President is quite fond of celebrating Christmas and saying those “illegal” words, it’s pretty obvious just how full of it you are.

Blackburn is probably referring to a federal law that bars the usage of federal dollars to send any form of religious greeting. It’s the same law that caused PolitiFact to rate a recent statement by book peddler Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich as “Pants on Fire.

News flash, Marsha: Facebook isn’t owned by the government. It’s free. You can say whatever the hell you want to. Heck, you can even send CHRISTmas cards to your constituents. You just can’t use my tax dollars to pay for them. As long as it’s out of your pocket, you can say whatever you like.

It’s pretty obvious that she’s just trying to tap into the already ridiculous “war on Christmas” nonsense that’s sweeping the GOP and the right wing. And like the rest of these kooks, she’s proven herself to be nothing more than today’s Political Christmas Grinch!
