Respect, Trust, Communication, and Sex: All parts of a great relationship

By David W. Shelton On July 12, 2014 · 1 Comment · In General Commentaries
What is the formula to a great relationship? It's really not rocket science — but it does take a little compromise. A great relationship is like a car engine: It takes air, fuel, spark, and lubricant to get it going and keep it going for the long term. What are the relational equivalence to the engine? Find out after the fold.

Christians, Gays, and the Culture War: The Question of Morality

By David W. Shelton On January 3, 2013 · 7 Comments · In Christianity, Gay Rights, General Commentaries, Hate Groups, podcast

Morality. It’s a word that has driven the social justice debate over the last forty years. Early on, it was the “moral majority.” Then people said “you can’t legislate morality.” The word is often times joined with religious views, connected to the point of being one and the same.

There are those, however, that are the immoral. They are the single threat to our society, driving down every bit of moral fiber in our nation — a danger to all that we hold dear. They are the promiscuous, the licentious, and yes, the ultimate depravity - the homosexual.

The basic premise is this: Christians are moral. Homosexuals are not.

It’s a false premise, of course. But that doesn’t stop equality opponents. It doesn’t even slow them down.

Being Gay: It’s Not All About the Sex.

By David W. Shelton On July 6, 2012 · 4 Comments · In Christianity, General Commentaries, podcast
Being gay is not a sin. I’ve said it before, and yes, I’ll say it again. And again. And again. As often as it takes for it to sink in, I’ll say it. These things take repetition. It’s a lot like pounding a stake into hard concrete. It’s not an easy concept for some of us. After all, many of us have years — if not decades — of old baggage that keeps us from readily accepting this simple, all-too-obvious truth. There’s good reason for this. I get it. It’s very simple. You see, for many of us, “being gay” is the same as “a person who has gay sex.”

Homosexuality is Not a Sin.

By David W. Shelton On May 7, 2012 · 81 Comments · In Gay Christians, podcast
Got your attention? Good. Because it’s true. Homosexuality is not a sin. Oh, I know. You’re running scriptures in your mind. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13. First Corinthians 6:9-10. Genesis chapter 19. Romans 1:26-27. Some of you are already looking for the comment section to start an all-too-expected, “IS TOO!” post to show me up. Let’s take a moment, though, and talk about this for a second. If you’re THAT sure that homosexuality is a sin, just what is “homosexuality?” Preachers and pastors (and yes, there’s a difference) all across the country will sometimes have whole sermons dedicated to the topic of damning “homuh-SEX-shuality” as being the end-all and be-all of the worst kind of sinner in America today. Thankfully, people are beginning to educate themselves a little more on the topic, but that doesn’t mean that people use the word “homosexuality” to paint a broad stroke of something that should be very, very specific.

Male rape victim shamed, ridiculed by Franklin police

By David W. Shelton On January 3, 2012 · 3 Comments · In Gay Rights, General Commentaries
Not all rape victims are women. We might know this to be true, but it's a dark side of life that affected one man's life in Franklin, Tennessee.
